KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): In an effort to enhance the monitoring of palm oil products, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has developed a monitoring system to track the movement of vehicles transporting palm oil to prevent misconduct. 

Its director-general Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said MPOB offices throughout the country are constantly monitoring and conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with industry regulations.

“We are always cooperating with enforcement agencies and departments, such as the police and the Department of Environment (DOE), to curb activities that could threaten the well-being of the industry.

“The public and those in the industry who have information on wrongdoing in the industry are urged to inform the MPOB for further investigation and action,” he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Parveez was responding to media reports on complaints by certain quarters about enforcement measures taken by the MPOB — as the agency carries out regulatory and law enforcement activities to ensure orderly and sustainable growth of the palm oil industry.

“Information and complaints received from the public about alleged violations of the MPOB’s legal provisions will be scrutinised thoroughly.

“Any probe will be conducted in accordance with the powers provided under the MPOB Licensing Regulations (Act 582) and the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“The MPOB adheres to strict regulations, and enforcement actions are carried out transparently and fairly,” he added.
