KUALA LUMPUR: Crude palm oil (CPO) futures contracts closed higher yesterday following strong gains in soyaoil prices, positive export data and talk of lower output in Malaysia this month.
According to Intertek, Malaysia exported 1.16 million tonnes of palm oil in the first 25 days of this month.
September 2013 and November 2013 gained RM66 each to RM2,485 and RM2,433 per tonne, respectively.
October 2013 added RM61 to RM2,446 per tonne and December 2013 rose RM67 to RM2,427 per tonne.
Volume increased to 34,395 lots from 30,820 lots while open interest added to 201,128 contracts from 200,586 contracts previously.
On the physical market, September South gained RM60 to RM2,490 a tonne. Bernama
