KUALA LUMPUR: Locals working in the oil palm sector have a potential of earning more than RM2,000 per month if they are hardworking and productive, the Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA) says.
It said in a statement on Monday the RM2,000 per month is over and above the free facilities and amenities provided such as decent housing, water, electricity and other social and recreational amenities.
MPOA issued the statement following a report in The Star titled ” Ministry urges unemployed Malaysians to work in the palm oil industry”.
While the MPOA applauded the ministry’s assistance to encourage Malaysians to work in the plantations, it clarified that that its members do not offer a minimum wage of RM2,000 per month to locals”.
