Pakistan’s import of palm oil slid by nine percent to $1.671 billion in July-May 2013-14, official figures say. Import of palm oil slumped by $164 million in July-May 2013-14 from $1.835 billion in July-May 2012-13, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The volume of palm oil import slightly fell by 3625 metric tons (0.18 percent) to 2,006,164 metric tons in July-May 2013-14 from 2,009,789 metric tons in July-May 2012-13, the figures indicate.

In May 2014, palm oil import went up by $7.063 million (5.23 percent) to $142.107 million from $135.044 million in May 2013. Palm oil import volume however declined by 2891 metric tons (2 percent) to 157,618 million in May 2014 from 160,509 metric tons in May 2013, the PBS says.

Soybean oil import surged by $6.982 million (10 percent) to $81.005 million in July-May 2013-14 from $74.023 million during July-May 2012-13. The volume of soybean oil import grew by 21292 metric tons (36 percent) to 81,235 metric tons in July-May 2013-14 from 59,943 metric tons in July-May 2012-13, the figures suggest. In May 2014, soybean oil import plummeted by $13.325 million (87 percent) to $2.018 million from $15.343 million in May 2013. Quantity of soybean oil import also declined by 11,269 metric tons (85 percent) to 2,061 metric tons in May 14 from 13,330 metric tons in May 2013, the PBS depicts.
