KARACHI, Jan 15 (Bernama) — The Minister Of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas, is leading a palm oil trade mission on a working visit to Pakistan and Iran from today until Jan 21.

The delegation comprises representatives from the Ministry Of Plantation Industries and Commodities, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), and the private sector.

During the three-day visit to Pakistan from Wednesday, Uggah will officiate and deliver a keynote address at the Palm Oil Trade Seminar 2014 (POTS 2014) in Karachi.

POTS 2014 offers oils and fats players both from within and outside Pakistan, a platform to exchange, discuss issues affecting trade and business networking.

The minister will also visit an edible-oil-refining facility at Port Qasim near here, launch a “Made in Malaysia Week” event and meet the Malaysia Pakistan Business Council.

Meanwhile, the visit to Iran from Jan 18 – 22 is to acknowledge the importance of the country as a major palm oil user, and one of the biggest importers of Malaysian palm oil in the Middle East.

Uggah is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at POTS Iran 2014 on Jan 20.

Event organisers, MPOC and MPOB have lined up a team of oils and fats industry experts, to present carefully selected papers on updating issues affecting trade in this area.

Unggah is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with several Iranian government officials and dialogue with business communities.
