Palm futures end slightly lower

CRUDE palm oil futures prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed slightly lower yesterday on weaker demand, dealers said. They said uncertainty over the economic impact of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami weighed on the prices.

April 2011 slipped RM10 to RM3,390 a tonne, May 2011 and June 2011 fell RM9 each to RM3,359 and RM3,338 and July 2011 dipped RM8 to RM3,324.

Turnover dropped to 20,950 lots from 37,952 lots on Wednesday while open interest was slightly down to 95,211 contracts from 95,965 contracts previously.

On the physical market, April South was flat at RM3,420 a tonne.
