Palm Futures Gains on Export Data

KUALA LUMPUR: The crude palm oil futures contracts closed higher yesterday, due to better export numbers for the first half of February, a dealer said.

March 2013 increased RM23 to RM2,475 a tonne, April 2013 added RM30 to RM2,513 a tonne, May 2013 appreciated by RM33 to RM2,539 a tonne and June 2013 stood at RM2,554 a tonne. 

Turnover rose to 46,958 lots from 28,734 lots last week, while open interest advanced to 214,842 contracts from 198,224 contracts recorded previously. 

On the physical market, February South was RM10 up at RM2,450 a tonne.
