Palm Futures Slips on Strong Ringgit

KUALA LUMPUR: The crude palm oil futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed lower yesterday following the stronger ringgit to the dollar, a dealer said.

December 2013 slid RM15 to RM2,614 a tonne, January 2014 and March 2014 each lost RM26 to RM2,632 a tonne and RM2,647 a tonne, respectively, and February 2014 eased RM25 to RM2,645.

Turnover reduced to 25,202 lots from the 29,566 lots last Friday, while open interest fell to 174,592 contracts from 179,022 contracts.

On the physical market, December South remained unchanged at RM2,640 a tonne.
