Supply Worry Boosts CPO Futures

KUALA LUMPUR: Crude palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher yesterday as traders were cautious over the bad weather in the United States which may disrupt soyabean supply.

September 2012 added RM2 to RM3,032 a tonne, October 2012 rose RM17 to RM3,068, November 2012 increased RM22 to RM3,091 but December 2012 fell RM73 to RM3,012 a tonne.

Volume jumped to 25,999 lots, from 26,872 lots on Friday, while open interest increased to 144,144 contracts from 280,011 contracts previously.
On the physical market, September South closed RM30 higher at RM3,040 a tonne.
